3 Spring Cleaning Hacks You Need To Know

Blog

Spring is almost here, so you may be planning different projects for around your home and garden. Before you begin tackling these projects, you should spend some time spring cleaning areas in and around your home. Of course, this can become overwhelming due to the amount of dirt, dust, and grime that can accumulate in and around your house. To get started spring cleaning, here are a few hacks that you need to know.

Windows

Most people will reach for their standard spray bottle of glass cleaner to clean their windows. While effective for removing light dirt, dust, fingerprints, and other debris, glass cleaners also create a streaky mess. After using, your windows may actually appear dirtier than before.

To clean your windows in an efficient manner that will not leave streaks behind, use water and a microfiber cloth. Spray your window with plain water and then use your microfiber cloth to wipe across the base using horizontal stripes. To finish, use vertical strokes to wipe from the top of your window to the bottom.

Tub and Shower Tile

You may clean your tub and shower regularly through the year, but the spring is a great time to scrub dirt and soap scum from the tile and grout. Your local grocery or discount retailer will offer a wide selection of sprays and scrubs meant for the bathroom. However, these cleaners contain toxic chemicals that can irritate your skin and eyes while affecting your breathing.

To scrub your bathroom tile in a more natural manner, consider the following solution:

  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 2 cups of white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap

Add to a spray bottle and shake to mix. Douse the vinegar solution on the tile in your tub, shower, or floor. Allow to sit for a few minutes before scrubbing with a sponge. Wipe away any leftover cleaning with a damp cloth or rinse with the handheld shower sprayer.

Vinegar's natural acetic acids are capable of eating through stubborn dirt and soap scum. In addition, it is naturally antibacterial, so the cleaner will kill any bacteria lingering in your bathroom.

Blinds and Baseboards

Your window blinds and the baseboards or trim of your home will become dusty and dirty over the year. Moving around the entire house, cleaning all of these surfaces can be timely and stressful, but you can make the process a little easier using dryer sheets.

Purchase a large box of fabric softening dryer sheets. Use these sheets to collect dust from your vinyl, faux wood, and wood blinds. Also, run a dryer sheet across your baseboards, crown molding, trim, and chair rails to remove dirt, dust, hair, and other debris that accumulates on these surfaces.

With these hacks, you can spring clean your home in a more efficient, effective, and stress free manner. For more information, contact companies like Michele's Maids.
